Six Oman firms among top 100 Middle East Arab family businesses

Saud Bahwan Group, Suhail Bahwan Group, Zubair Corporation, MB Holding, Mohsin Haider Darwish, WJ Towell are among the Forbes’ 100 Arab family businesses for 2022.

MUSCAT: Forbes Middle East has revealed its annual list of the Top 100 Arab Family Businesses for 2022, honoring the region’s most successful legacy businesses, many of whom have been handed down through several generations. The ranking reveals the conglomerates moving into new-age industries and technologies under the leadership of the second and third generations. 

Omani headquartered family businesses are also in the list with six entries, while Saudi family businesses top with 37 entries, followed by the U.A.E. with 25, and Kuwait with eight entries.

From Oman, the Saud Bahwan Group led by its chairman Mohammed Saud Bahwan has been ranked 15thin the list, followed by Suhail Bahwan Group led by its chairman Suhail Bahwan Group ranked 18thin list. The Zubair Corporation led by chairman Rashad Mohammad Al Zubair has been ranked 32nd, while MB Holding Company led by chairman Mohammed Al Barwani is ranked 62ndand Mohsin Haider Darwish led by Lujaina Mohsin Darwish and Areej Mohsin Darwish has been ranked 70 in the list. WJ Towell, led by Vice Chairman and Managing Director Imad Sultan is ranked 95thin the list. 

To construct this list, Forbes Middle East only considered private businesses or holding companies that are jointly owned or operated by Arab families. The conglomerates were ranked on their holding’s size and performance, business activity, age, legacy, and how diversified the business is in terms of geography and sector.
